BEIRUT: The emergence of a former Guantánamo Bay detainee (Said Ali al-Shihri) as the deputy leader of Al Qaeda's Yemeni branch has underscored the potential complications in carrying out the executive order that President Barack Obama signed that the detention center be shut down within a year.

My break from the college where I teach was suppose to be about finishing several compositions, and at least get my new CD to the mixing and mastering stage.
I actually looked forward to that and hoped for a very introspective and quiet Christmas.
A week of no electricity or heat right before Christmas put me in survival mode rather than creative mode. (See the post Elvis put up below) Even though I’ve understood intellectually how good I have it and how comfortable everything is in my modest home; and I actually have no reason to complain about anything …. but I still do.

Not being able to stay in my house made me realize how ungrateful and complacent I am. Not being able to have espresso, and actually having to drive at least 20 or 30 minutes just to get lousy coffee made me actually change somehow. I know that sounds simplistic and silly. I was never in danger of starving or freezing to death. I could go places where people had a generator or a woodstove. I wasn’t in the middle of a war zone, (even though it looked like it in many areas here in NH) just displaced. I could stay in my house but only lay under many many blankets, but I could do nothing. The power was restored just before Christmas. For many people it wasn’t. For many people it still isn’t.

This Christmas was very quiet. This Christmas I received a gift. One that is a heart felt or soul felt perspective of taking nothing for granted. This is much more than an intellectual understanding. As an adult I’m a little embarrassed that what my grandfather knew at a young age I seem to just be really grasping and knowing.
I hope it lasts. Being human I’m a little skeptical that it will. I do know sometimes we can change for the better.

Now things have settled down and I have been writing for several days.
I’m working on a piece for a dancer. It’s supposed to be 3 minutes or so in length.

This morning I’m starting a third piece for this dancer. I don’t know why … just because.
Just because I take certain themes or ideas from a previous version and make them part of a new piece. I guess it’s kind of like the re-mix idea. In thought only, … probably.
Maybe this will be a multi- movement dance piece. Maybe I’m wasting my time. I don’t care though. Somehow I feel very good just playing with notes. I feel very good enjoying the space I live in and hearing what I’m playing with.

I am also working on a piece for marimba and guitar and some choral pieces. Except I have finally fired up my recently acquired Logic Pro 8.
This is causing another problem. It’s so easy to edit and change in myriad ways what I’ve written or recorded. That’s probably why I keep doing different versions of a three-minute piece. I will be exploring and learning this program over Christmas break. It’s not like I have time to do that. I just like playing with the notes. ☺

I did buy two pounds of espresso last night. I had the beans ground just the way I like them. So maybe now you see how more and more espresso comes in handy. Why? Because, no one actually cares if I know the ins and outs of Logic, and they certainly don’t care if I am happy wiling away my time playing with notes. However, they do care if I get the music written. So my expensive espresso is not only a symbol of how good I have it, it also helps me to stay awake just a little bit longer…. I THINK ☺
So I will continue in this space, in which I’m grateful for this New Year in a very new way. I will enjoy my loved ones, friends and God’s touch of music with a new heart.
……. And If I just want to play with a new gift of hearing and seeing I will ……..

I’m off to make another pot and to find some empty staff paper.

It's really now time to harass congress constantly. They are only in our way. The things they do and say… and the laws they make. They want us to do with less and yet cannot do with less themselves. They are despicable human beings. They have titles like the “ Honorable" so and so from some stupid state. There is nothing honorable about these people. They need to be put in their place once and for all. What the hell America… It’s time to put these peoples feet to the fire.

The president-elect was blunt and brief in addressing the case on Tuesday: "I had no contact with the governor or his office, and so I was not aware of what was happening" concerning any possible dealing about Blagojevich's appointment of a successor.

If a republican candidate had emerged from a similar filth ridden cesspool surrounding the “Chicago THUG Machine”, which Obama was brought up in, and this happened; the drumbeat would already be underway for the impeaching of the President Elect, before he assumed office.
That of course is the way things are ,,, you know like a cliche.
WITH THAT SAID.......

We have a question.... How does Hillary ( Ms. Secretary of the State) measure up in all of this?

You know, the one (who always pretends to know nothing) that was caught saying the following....
"Gee, i found the billing records in our bedroom. We were looking for them for years. Is that a problem?"
WHAT WILL SHE SAY NOW About OBAMA?.....is she compromised,or is this her chance to really weaken the "ONE" behind the scenes.... ?

She is kind of like another Nightmare before Christmas.

While there are other picks and possibilities, they all seem to support the legendary Fred Ralista's truth gathering. Now we don't have anything against ugly people, but Fred thought the following information should be shared. This all happened when the news conference was ended and the microphones were turned off.

The Last Vestige of Summer

As the last vestiges of summer waned, a meeting in an undisclosed location took place. The meeting that started out to be one of convincing Fred Ralista to finally make his run for president public was underway. However, it ended in a much more powerful way. Truth always wins.

The evidence of Ralista’s charm and charisma is hard to hide and has been well documented at every possible opportunity. (See previous posts.) Most of you just cannot imagine the stature of the man. Themistokles was in and out like the ether. He is mostly silent now. Venkman brought the coffee. He’s not one for all the pressure. He usually stays quiet and just listens. Elvis and I looked Fred in the eye and showed him the overwhelming evidence.

Alas, My Soul is ever tried. I must always be vigilant.I must never tire of my responsibility to freedom. I am contemplating the following words....

“We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness.”

Some people still know some of these words… but many look the other way.
It seems to be troublesome to contemplate the meanings of Life, Liberty and Happiness? Life… what is it? Where does it begin, and for that matter where does it end?
Liberty, and the pursuit of happiness? These ideas seem so quaint now.
Besides many say,if I have to take my blinders off and see and face reality, instead of listen to what I'm told..... then I'd have to be responsible to what those words really mean.

The current political climate with “third world like “ crowds following “the one” or “that one” describes liberty how? Well, if we could translate a coherent thought that summarizes the angry gibberish spewing from these messiah-adoring crowds, it seems to be something about justice.
Which seems to further translate to getting revenge and taking from the rich people and giving it to themselves.
“The One” who is really a blank slate, is going to fix everything and bring justice to the world.

"Get in their faces." "It's going to get nasty!"

In reality “The One” or “That One” is acting like a third world tyrant. He promises the disaffected whipped up crowds anything and everything. He appeals to the most lustful selfish desires by fomenting hate and division. Saul Alinsky has truly descended upon “The One” and lives through him. There is no life, liberty or pursuit of happiness here ,only a deceptive ruse to gain power.

So behold the Man and the Party that ignores the first right;life. The Party of the one thinks that life is expendable. After all the granting of life can be so very inconvenient.
The Party that promises you anything so they can take away your liberty.
The Party that says only happiness comes when they are in power, not from the self-evident truths, “that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights.“

Tyranny is given birth when men compromise their principles and believe in anything except God. Tyranny is given birth when men seek superficial comforts and forget about self reliance. Men born to tyrannize know this.
