THINGS Never Change

Things never change. Tyranny is still tyranny. Whether it is camouflaged as liberalism or compassionate conservatism. The war against liberty is on full display and as always is trying to the soul. This election cycle is no different from most others in these modern or postmodern times.
I have many questions about this. Here are some of them.
WHAT IS IT ABOUT AMERICANS THAT THEY THINK THAT THEIR CANDIATE IS THE MESSIAH? WHAT CAUSES THIS RELIGIOUS FERVOR FOR A MERE MORTAL? Is it because we have nothing to believe in? So, we create a god in our own image? A god that tells everyone what they want to hear. A god that sugar coats tyranny with another label. Or, “we have to give up some of our freedom for the greater good” In the end this little tyrannical god always shackles our wealth and our spirit.
What ever happened to self-reliance? What happened to the tea party?
Which reminds me of this quote from my friend Thomas Paine. It comes from a pamphlet he published titled, The Crisis

“These are the times that try men's souls: The summer soldier and the sunshine patriot will, in this crisis, shrink from the service of their country; but he that stands it now, deserves the love and thanks of man and woman. Tyranny, like hell, is not easily conquered; yet we have this consolation with us, that the harder the conflict, the more glorious the triumph. What we obtain too cheap, we esteem too lightly: it is dearness only that gives every thing its value.”
—Published on 23 December 1776

The most important issue for this year and any year is freedom. Freedom and liberty for the individual.
This election cycle makes me think that there are too many people that are afraid to keep fighting for freedom. That it is so easy and so cheap. It seems to have lost value. At least that ‘s how many of us are acting.
